Finding Your Tribe
No matter the level of self-sufficiency, independence, or even introvertness; we all long to be accepted. Every person has the need to feel a sense of belonging from the people that matter to them. A longing to find the people that just get you and that accept and love you for the person you are. The people you can count on and rely on. Maybe even your one phone call. We all want to be a part of something bigger than us.
Your tribe is the community of people that you connect with on a deeper level. The people that you can begin a path of growth with that will not only help you but will hold you accountable to continue your journey. There are so many benefits to finding these individuals that will become your found family.
One of the most important is that you will be accepted for yourself, no matter your past. Also that you’ll learn to accept others in the same way. We all have faults and things that we’ve done that are regretful but being in a community means acknowledging that everyone has these and that’s okay. We all grow, change, and learn from these mistakes.
Another is that you will never be alone. You won’t have to face your trials and tribulations without support. Whether it’s a shoulder to cry on, or seeking advice from someone who has taken the road you’re currently on; they’ll be there. For example, maybe you’ve been passed over for a promotion or the person you have a romantic interest in doesn’t return those feelings, your tribe will be there to help you through. Maybe even help you see that there is always another path.
The people in your community will hold you accountable to meeting your goals in professional and personal matters. They will encourage you to grow in all aspects of your life. Just as you will them. The people that are a part of this will want you to achieve the best and to be the best you that you can possibly be. All while supporting you when you fail and then reminding you that failure doesn’t mean it’s over.
Also having a strong community full of different individuals gives you a chance to experience relationships with diversity. They teach you acceptance and the importance of being non-judgemental.
Your friendships like this will also take you out of your comfort zone. Part of being in a community is that you learn and experience new things with others. You’ll be more open to these new experiences because you have found the people that you trust completely. Thus allowing you to let your guard down.
Humans were not created to be solitary creatures. We crave connection, intimacy and belonging. Having these within your tribe or community gives each person a sense of purpose and meaning. Finding the people that you can bond with on a deeper level can bring you a stronger sense of self, happiness, and just a general well being. No one wants to be alone. Find your tribe and learn to be a part of something bigger than yourself and you will find a deeper and brighter life.
