How to Make the Right Decision
The only difference between making the right decision and the wrong decision is your interpretation of the results. Yes, let me say that again – the only difference is in the interpretation of the results. If you’ve often wondered how to know if you’re making the right decision, this is for you. Decision-making is not black and white. It’s about how you look at the results. So if you look at the results like you went the wrong way, then that’s the sentiment you’re going to be living with. And if you think that you went the right way, then too you’re correct. And you’re going to be living in that reality.
The story of the toughest decision I ever made.
Here’s the story about the toughest decision I ever had to make. It was a while back when I was at my parents’ home for my grandmother’s funeral. I had made up my mind to get a divorce from my husband. Also, I had no job and no home. All I had to call my own was the $200 in my pocket and bleak job prospects at a time when the country was reeling under a recession.
What I wanted to do was to move to Indiana and try to make a go of my music career. At the same time, my father had other plans for me. He offered me a home, a job, and a new car. It was all laid out for me: a new life. My dad meant well, being a problem solver at heart. For him it was his way or the highway – either I did what he said or I would be cut off without a penny.
So I had a decision to make – do I take the plunge into the unknown or play it safe? Do I let my dad take care of me and let him shelter me from possibly a penniless future, or choose self-reliance but an uncertain future? Remember, if I failed, there was no daddy to bail me out – that ship would have sailed. It is tough – how to know if you’re making the right decision. So what did I decide and how? Watch this video to know.
How to know if you’re making the right decision.
I have three simple rules that help me each time there is a difficult decision to be made. My first rule is to ask myself – does this bring me joy? If the decision makes me joyful, if this is going to make me hop out of bed full of excitement each morning, this is the right decision for me. Am I going to be haunted by regrets if I decide the other way? If I’m feeling a sense of anticipation about one choice and feel nothing for the other, my choice is clear. If something has been your dream for a long time the answer is obvious and that’s how to know if you’re making the right decision. For the other two rules of making the right decision every time, watch my latest video. I reveal the three rules that I always follow when there is a decision to be made. And they have always served me and my clients well.
