Strength in the Storm
On your journeys through life, your path might be littered with stumbling blocks and misfortunes. Fret not though because obstacles and adversities can be overcome and you’ll be better for it.
“Nothing really worth having comes quickly and easily. If it did, I doubt that we would ever grow.” (Eknath Easwaran).
Although while facing these burdens you may experience difficulties and insecurities finding the strength to work through them.
Obstacles and adversities in life can be many things. It can be a loss of a job in your chosen career path, losing support, lack of financial security, self-doubt, or even a fear of failure.
The first step in standing strong against what is impeding your success is identifying exactly what your goals and objectives are. Such as what career do you really want, what relationships are you searching for, or just what desires you have for your life. Once that is clear it’s time to change your mindset. Adversity is a fact of life, there is no avoidance only overcoming. So the only way to surpass these problems is to change how you deal with them.
For example, if your adversity is people have been telling you all your life that you aren’t strong or good enough to succeed; well then set your mind to working hard and proving that belief wrong. Tell yourself that if you put in the effort you can triumph. Letting adversity rule your life will always mean you will fail or at the very least be at a standstill.
Another step is to let go of the expectations you have in the situations, you cannot just expect life to go your way. You have to put in the time and effort. Then when you fail or fall, learn. Take each obstacle as a lesson, and gain knowledge to further your journey. Let life teach you to become more. Never make excuses for yourself, accept what you’ve done wrong, and move on with a mindset of not repeating your mistakes.
If you accept the responsibility you will learn and grow. Have faith and belief in yourself, along with surrounding yourself with people that also have that belief in you. Positivity from yourself and others is a must. Stay on task and never give up. Look back at your past and reflect on what you have already overcome and accomplished. Also, nature, take that break and go on a walk to let mother nature's gift to us surround you. In a world full of busy, take a moment to smell the flowers and relax, your mind will be better for it.
Furthermore, becoming a person that lends their strength and belief to others to help them face their own storms is extremely important to personal growth. Be that positive influence, the shoulder to cry on for those that need it in your life.
Helping each other through life is essential for having a healthy life. Surrounding yourself with people that will accept your help and that will help you, will create bonds that will make life so much more enjoyable. Everyone needs a helping hand. Be that for someone.
Obstacles and adversity will never go away, they are an important part of everyone’s journey. A part that will teach and bring an appreciation for one’s life and accomplishments. So be strong and positive for yourself and others and you will triumph in your goals for life.
